T&Cs: Covid Acts of Kindness Community Award

We (Drummond Central) are running the Covid Acts of Kindness Community Awards on behalf of the LA7 Partnership - the seven North East local authorities (LA7). The LA7 includes; Sunderland City Council, Gateshead Council, Newcastle City Council, South Tyneside Council, North Tyneside Council, Durham County Council and Northumberland County Council. 

Nominator must

  • Have direct knowledge of the Covid act of kindness
  • Nominate someone who lives in one of the following local authority areas; Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland, South Tyneside and Sunderland;
  • nominate someone who has carried out a Covid act of kindness between March 2020-August 2020;
  • submit a nomination (250 words max) before the deadline at midnight on Friday 1st October 2021;
  • confirm that the nomination:
    • is their own original work and does not breach any third party’s intellectual property rights (for example, by including a company’s trademark without permission);
    • can be submitted to the Covid Acts of Kindness Community Award and used without breaching any contractual obligation to any person; and
    • does not contain anything which may be confidential or commercially sensitive.
  • not submit the same nomination across multiple local authority areas or multiple times for one local authority area; and

Understand that:

  • Drummond Central, on behalf of the LA7 Partnership, does not accept any responsibility for loss of or damage to any entry.
  • all completed nominations will be acknowledged online at the time of submission.
  • they will be notified if their nominee is a winner after the winner has been contacted first.
  • the intentions for this initiative are to celebrate, share and publicly recognise those deserving of recognition; and
  • that submitting a nomination, you confirm that you have read and understood these terms and conditions and agree to be bound by them; and
  • that no nominations will be accepted after the deadline at midnight on Friday 1st October 2021. Drummond Central, on behalf of the LA7 Partnership, reserves the right to amend the competition end date at any time.
  • that they retain ownership of all intellectual property rights (including copyright) in their nomination, but they agree to grant Drummond Central, on behalf of the LA7 Partnership, a licence to use it for the purposes of the competition. The licence will last for the duration of the relevant intellectual property right and includes the right to:
    • edit or modify your entry (including resizing, adjusting the colour and adding elements such as text)
    • adapt it or incorporate it into other materials;
    • sub-licence it to third parties or companies in our group to use for the purposes of the competition; and
    • republish it (or any version modified in the way described above) on any media anywhere in the United Kingdom.

Nominee must

  • understand they will be contacted if they are a winner and they will be asked to give consent for the information provide within the nomination to be uploaded onto the BeatCovidNE website and used on BeatCovidNE, local authority, partner and sponsor social media channels;
  • give consent to take part in non-paid publicity including photography if required, relating to the competition; and
  • give consent for potential media coverage of their nomination. 

Judging criteria

To nominate someone for the Covid Acts of Kindness Community Award you must complete the nomination form here.

Winners will be announced during October 2021 on social media, regional PR and on BeatCovidNE.co.uk

Nominees will be judged on the following:

  • Has the individual gone above and beyond to support others during Covid.
  • Has the individual made a lasting impact on the life of others?
  • Does the individual embody the region’s renowned goodwill?

Your nomination should cover

  • Examples of how they have gone above and beyond to support others during Covid.
  • The impact of their Covid act of kindness.
  • Why are they your Covid hero? How they embody the region’s renowned goodwill.
  • Share why you (neighbours, families, friends and communities) want to thank them for their support.

Judging process

  • A panel of judges will choose one winner for each of the seven local authority areas. Meet the judges here.
  • Judges will declare any conflicts of interest regarding relationships with either the nominator or the nominee.
  • Only nominations submitted via the appropriate online entry form will be considered.
  • All information provided will be treated in the strictest confidence
  • Judges will evaluate each entry against the criteria, using their own discretion based on their relevant expertise.
  • In the event of a draw, judges will deliberate until they agree on a winner.
  • Judges' decisions are final and binding and no feedback will be given on unsuccessful entries.
  • No correspondence will be entered into relating to the final decision.
  • If it is found that any entrant has knowingly provided false information, Drummond Central, on behalf of the LA7 Partnership, reserves the right to disqualify the entry.
